A popular idea about the cause of school violence is bullying. Bullying is a persistent pattern of threatening, harassing, or aggressive behavior directed toward another person or persons who are perceived as smaller, weaker, or less powerful (Fundukian, 2).
The violence expressed by individuals at school is only a representation of the systematic confusion, assaults, and distorted values children are being subjected to. The solutions include edifying measures that will result from comprehensive analysis of the root of the problems and individualistic approach towards the troubled students.
School violence and bullying Violence in educational settings is a daily reality that denies millions of children and young people the fundamental human right to education. One estimate by Plan International suggests that 246 million children and adolescents experience violence in and around school every year.
School violence has become a topic that many people are engaged in a debate about. It is difficult to make a definitive definition of school violence, because there are so very many components to it. For one thing, we can be sure that school violence and bullying is something that only takes place.
Violence in schools can take many forms, ranging from physical violence to psychological violence. It is often expressed through acts of bullying, intimidation and repression. Violence in schools creates insecurity and fear which harm the general school climate and infringe pupils’ right to learn in a safe, unthreatening environment.
